Is it new, or has it always been like this? We live in societies immersed in calumny. Politicians, the media, neighbours… slander each other, accuse without proof, vilify enemies and friends alike. Is this the result of freedom, or its obverse? Our newspapers, television, talkshows, are full of statements based on nothing but the prejudices of their authors, or worse, what they believe will please the audience. Truth, a balanced judgement, caution, are thrown to the bin. What does it matter?
