Bauhaus Universität, Weimar Bauhaus

German school of fine arts, architecture and crafts of the early 20th century (1919-1933), founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar. The school thrived in three German cities: Weimar, Dessau and Berlin, until its closure by the Nazi government. Its influence was long-lasting in architecture and design. The artist Paul Klee taught at the Bauhaus from 1921 to 1931.
