Robert Doisneau The old station was engulfed in the trash and white noise of their commercial age but he had eyes only for the small crowd waiting at the end of the platform.

She was there, tall, red-haired, her calm eyes already taking possession of him.

Then he was in her arms, she kissing him full mouth, as she used to, all those years past, when they met after school.

At once he felt transformed, a different man, and yes, already much younger.

And she said: “We have two days – just think of all that we can do for two days!”
