It’s my space. Here I write on subjects that interest me, whatever they are. My only concession to readers is to have separated the blog into several, to accomodate specific interests, such as photography, erotica, travel, French language, and my novel. I welcome visitors and comments, but at the end of the day I write – here and anywhere – for my pleasure, and that of close friends. It’s a very egotistic hobby. I like to reread a good post, and, of course I appreciate a favourable comment – but I don’t seek those, let alone design the blog for it.
I don’t give a X for statistics of any sort generally, being a (still) good mathematician. I daresay the same applies to the novel’s readership, trotting on at its own pace. Life is too short for accounting! But I do appreciate meeting people with similar interests, when it’s genuine…

I feel the same way, I write because I enjoy writing. If someone doesn’t like a topic I write about, that’s absolutely fine. We don’t all have the same taste. I like the idea of separating your blog into “mini blogs” as it were. Can I ask if you did each of them as a new page or a new link? I’m not very confident I’m afraid – I’d hate to make a mess of things 😀

I have separate blogs, make administration easier and also choice of themes. I use pages for bits and pieces like music and stuff about myself (as if anyone was interested!) 😉

Great questions. Mine started out as a way to take baby steps back into writing after radiation treatments made creativity hibernate. But what I find now is that I have an idea, I ponder on it, post about it, and then proceed to learn from the comments I receive. The people who follow are very wise and it never fails that discourse leads off into avenues I hadn’t thought to walk. I can’t imagine tailoring the blog simply to increase following. Like you said, life is too short for accounting. I don’t think I would receive anything back if I simply posted to gain readers and increase numbers. And if we did that I believe we’d lose a lot of freedom in our creativity.

Aaaaah, so refreshing! I too want to write what I want to write, so what if it doesn’t fit in with my audience, my platform or what I am supposed to be about! I have wide interests, why shouldn’t my blog reflect that? (Point taken though, that it might help a reader if I divided it up into topics). But perhaps this is the freedom of the unpublished writer in me talking… Once you are ‘owned’ by readers, maybe they force you to blog in a certain way, with the weight of their expectations?

I don’t write as much as I do photography, but the combination of words and images plays a big role on my blog. And yes, I stick mostly to one subject – The North – for clarity . I think clarity is important in order to attract the readers, I don’t use the blog as a diary or for daily postings. Interesting discussion here, thanks for letting me join in! 🙂
Greetings from Norway
