#FiveSentenceFiction: Purple

MemorialIn the dead of night I think of you.

The scenery often changes: from the sands of the desert to the snows on the high mountains peaks.

Often the shapes change too, and the sky from time to time: courage knows no colour, courage knows no gender, courage is simple.

Soon is your graduation, my son.

Purple hearts…

  1. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to comment, as I did read this almost immediately after you posted. Honoré, your writing – no matter how sombre the theme – has a richness to it which is completely your style. The first sentence is so evocative that, even with simple lines following, I went back to read it and feel the weight of it again. So well done, my friend.
