Life Through Blue Eyes

I was born beautiful
and have been used since
well and not so well but
I accept it all because
it is so hard to fight.

Still before I go —
before you kill me —
I ask for one minute,
one minute for a lifetime,
please. Please.
Peel me.
Peel off what you’ve done to me.

And let me be beautiful
one more time.

[ It is an honor to collaborate with S.M. Abeles on today’s post.  He is a new friend who has quickly become one of my favorite poets.  He shares his poetry in a variety of forms so please take a few moments to read his work at Everything Is Empty.  You won’t be disappointed. ]
