He arrived early and sat nervously at the table that was assigned to him. The room was only a quarter full of youngsters, visibly as nervous as he was. Still another ten minutes and then the ordeal would begin, and last three hours. More people came in, and at last he looked at her, blushing a little, but encouraged by the coincidence of her presence, on the same day. The day of their exam, his mathematician, his lover, was there, and he knew she would, once again, be the best, and the most beautiful.

  1. Beautiful piece of writing! I really like that it is set somewhere interesting, and it is not your average Joe, but a mathematician. Great prompt, and you could easily make this into a longer piece.
